Compare versions

Compare how a product's forecast evolved across closed versions to detect trend changes and evaluate the performance of the previous cycle.

Before you begin

  • Only closed versions are comparable. The currently open version keeps changing until it closes, so its values are not final.
  • For trend indicators to appear, you need at least two closed versions for the same period.

To understand what a version is and when it closes, see Phases and versions.

Steps

1. Select the reference version

In the Forecast module, locate the version selector at the top of the screen. Open it and choose the closed version you want to analyze (for example: MAY-2025 Closed).

The grid updates to show the values for that version.

2. Review the Forecast History per SKU

Open the Forecast History for the product you are interested in. You will see a table with:

FieldDescription
VersionClosed version identifier
PhasePhase that produced the value (Baseline, Commercial, Marketing, Consensus…)
PeriodProjected month or week
ValueForecasted demand quantity
Record dateWhen the value was recorded

Navigate between versions to compare the evolution of the same SKU over time.

3. Read trend indicators in KPIs

In the Forecast KPIs module, each key metric shows a trend indicator (improved) or (worsened) compared to the previous closed version. This gives you a quick reading without having to compare tables manually.

Filter by SKU or category

If your portfolio is large, filter by SKU, family, or category before comparing to reduce noise and focus on critical products.

4. Interpret the changes

  • Value rises between versions: may indicate real demand growth or an upward adjustment driven by market information.
  • Value drops between versions: may indicate a correction of overestimation or loss of customers/markets.
  • No change: the forecast remained stable or there were no adjustments in that cycle.
Connect with FVA

To know whether the changes between versions were good, use Audit adjustments with FVA. FVA measures whether each adjustment improved or worsened accuracy.

Important limitation

Only closed versions feed KPIs and FVA. If a period has no closed version, it will not appear in comparisons or trend indicators.
